Covers that fit your photos, a diary that understands them, and GPT-6
Most phone pictures are taken upright, yet the banner we added at the top of each entry in early October was a short, wide strip. A plate of noodles or a friend’s face lost most of its height, and the gallery further down trimmed everything into squares. This update keeps each picture whole, leads with the strongest shots, and teaches deariary to understand what they show. It also moves the model lineup to GPT-6 and Claude Sonnet 5.5.
A banner shaped by your pictures
The banner now takes its proportions from the pictures in it:
- A single upright shot gets a tall frame, so nothing important is trimmed away
- A single landscape shot gets a wide frame
- Two or three shots are arranged by orientation, each one placed in the slot that trims it least

How many more the day holds now appears as a small label in the corner, rather than a dark veil over the last picture.
On a wide screen, the banner stops growing at a comfortable height. Any space the pictures leave at the sides is filled with a soft, blurred copy of the first one.

Shared links show the same banner.
deariary understands your pictures
deariary now understands what is in your pictures. A long dinner or an orange sky over a river can find its way into the diary, even when you never typed a caption.
It also uses that to choose the banner: the strongest shots lead, and screenshots or near-duplicates of a better shot drop to the back. Pictures showing nudity or graphic injury are never chosen for the banner, on your own page or a shared one, and are left out of the diary text.
A gallery that keeps every picture whole
Photos & Videos now lays the day out in rows. Pictures in a row share one height and keep their own proportions, so an upright shot stays upright and a landscape stays wide.

Up to 12 appear at first, and Show all reveals the remainder. They are still ordered by the time they were taken, and selecting one opens it full size.
GPT-6 and Claude Sonnet 5.5
Three models step up to their newest versions:
- GPT-6 Luna writes for the Free plan, replacing GPT-5.6 Luna
- GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-5.6 Terra on Advanced
- Claude Sonnet 5.5 replaces Claude Sonnet 5 on Advanced
Anyone who had picked a retired model is already on its successor, and the other options stay as they were. You can switch models any time in Settings.
